Ernest Kwablah

Ernest Kwablah, known as Quables, is a Ghanaian dancer, choreographer and co-founder of the Dance With A Purpose (DWP) Academy, one of the most influential dance groups in Ghana's Afrobeats era.

DWP Academy

Kwablah co-founded DWP Academy in 2017 with Laud Konadu and Nicholas Botchey. The academy grew from a dance crew into a training school and creative business, and its choreography has spread across social media alongside Ghanaian and Nigerian hit songs. DWP has since opened schools in other Ghanaian cities as well as branches in the United States and China.

Dance with a purpose

The academy's name reflects its mission. Since opening it has mentored more than 200 young Ghanaians and given many of them a source of income, offering young people who might otherwise have been on the streets a path into performance, teaching and content creation. ModernGhana has described it as not just fancy moves but a programme that is transforming lives.

Background

Kwablah studied at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi and is based in Accra. As one of the academy's public faces, he often speaks for DWP in the media, including on its relationships with other dance groups.
