Frances Adu-Mante

Frances Adu-Mante became board chair of Absa Bank Ghana in early 2021, succeeding Charles Alexander Cofie. She had joined the bank's board in 2017.

Lawyer and banker

She holds an LLB from the University of Ghana, qualified at the Ghana School of Law, and earned an Executive MBA in finance from the University of Ghana Business School. She is also an alumna of INSEAD's executive programme.

Ecobank years

She spent 25 years with the Ecobank Group, serving as company secretary and head of legal, regulatory and compliance, head of consumer banking, executive director for retail banking, and group coordinator for microfinance. She was also managing director of EB-ACCION Savings and Loans. In all she has more than four decades of experience in law, banking and finance.

Other roles

She has chaired the board of trustees of the University of Ghana Business School Endowment Fund, sat on the governing council of Presbyterian University College and consulted for ROFAM Consultancy Services. Avance Media listed her among Ghana's top 100 women board directors in 2026.
