Kofi Amoa-Abban worked as a drill crew member on offshore wells in Ghana before starting his own company. In 2011 he opened Rigworld in a small office in Osu, recruiting workers for the new oil industry; it has since grown into a group of oil services firms across West Africa.

He was born in Tema, the son of Kofi Amoa-Abban, a director at the textile firm TTL, and Letitia Amoa-Abban, a retailer. He attended Mfantsipim School, studied psychology at the University of Ghana and took a master's at the University of Oslo.
Rigworld
Before Rigworld he worked with Atwood Hunter on the TEAK and Banda wells. In July 2015 he co-founded PressureTech, an engineering subsidiary. The group's companies include Rigworld Solutions, Hydrasun Rigworld, Rigworld Training, Axiss Shipping and Rigworld Petroleum.
