Talk No Dey Cook Rice

Talk No Dey Cook Rice is a Ghanaian leadership podcast hosted by Derick Elorm Ashilevi. The title, a Ghanaian Pidgin saying meaning that talk alone achieves nothing, sums up its idea: it interviews young people who are "cooking", not just talking.

Format

Each week Ashilevi sits down with a young Ghanaian making progress in business, culture, governance or industry. The conversations are long and go beyond the usual promotional interview, focusing on the guest's mindset, decisions and setbacks. Guests have included the dancer Lisa Quama, who spoke about why dancers struggle to make money in Ghana.

Peer mentorship

The show describes itself as a peer mentorship programme, in which young people who are doing well share what they know with others who want to do big things. Episodes are available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, with clips shared on X and other platforms.
