Champion Rolie

Champion Rolie, whose real name is Roland Frimpong Nyarko, is a Ghanaian dancer, dance instructor with the DWP Academy and social media influencer.

From football to dance

At Winneba Senior High School, Rolie dreamed of a career in football. His father opposed him going for trials and wanted him to focus on his education, and he went on to study communication design. His passion gradually shifted to dance after he found himself captivated by watching people perform.

DWP Academy

He began dancing seriously in 2017, earning GH₵50 for his first paid performance, and joined the Dance With A Purpose collective, which nurtured his talent. He now teaches at the academy and has built millions of followers across social media. He has taken his dancing abroad, performing at the 2024 Oyofe Festival in Spain and linking up with Uganda's famous Ghetto Kids dance group.

Champion Rolie Foundation

In December 2023 he set up the Champion Rolie Foundation, which runs outreach for street children in Accra, including feeding programmes and free medical screenings. The Ghana News Agency has reported on the foundation's work.
