About Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi
Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi is a zoologist and university administrator who served as Minister for Education under President Kufuor and represented Techiman North in today's Bono East Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2009 to 2013. He comes from Jama near Techiman.
He attended Adisadel College, studied zoology at the University of Ghana, graduating in 1969, and earned his doctorate at the University of Michigan. He spent many years at the University of Cape Coast and the University of Ghana and was involved in reforming the university system. He won Techiman North in 2008 with 53.4 percent of the vote; the NDC's Alex Kyeremeh took it in 2012. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare of the NDC holds Techiman North today.
