About Cwesi Oteng
Cwesi Oteng's 2010 song "Mercy (But for Your Mercy)" made his name in Ghanaian gospel. At the 2014 African Gospel Music Awards he was named Artiste of the Year for West Africa and Male Artiste of the Year.
Church roots
Hermon Cyrus Kwesi Nhyira Oteng was a worship leader and music director at Lighthouse Chapel in Tema Community 8 before going solo. He is also a youth pastor and youth advocate, and describes his mission as speaking to the lonely, the rejected and the forgotten through music and social projects.
Music
His early albums include Blessed Are They and The Mercy Project, whose song "God Dey Bless Me" was a big hit, and later releases include "I Win" and the album Anthems. He won Best Gospel Video at the 2011 4syte Music Video Awards and in 2015 joined the BBnZ Live label. He has said he has never received royalties from GHAMRO, and that he regrets endorsing Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016.
