He was born at Zuarungu in the Upper East Region on 6 January 1966. He studied at Notre Dame Seminary Secondary School and Tamale Secondary School, then law at the University of Ghana and the Ghana School of Law, qualifying in 1995. He earned an LLM in international economic law at the University of Michigan in 1998, then an LLM in international trade law (2003) and a JSD (2006) at Stanford.
Politics
He won Bolgatanga East for the National Democratic Congress in 2012 with 61 per cent of the vote, raised that to 71 per cent in 2016 and has held the seat since. As Attorney-General he leads the government's legal work, including its prosecutions of former officials.
