About Godfred Yeboah Dame
Godfred Yeboah Dame is a lawyer who served as Ghana's Attorney-General and Minister for Justice from 2021 to 2025, after four years as deputy. He was born on 5 June 1979 and comes from the Bono Region.
He went to Adisadel College, studied law at the University of Ghana and was called to the bar in 2003, then worked in private practice. President Akufo-Addo made him Deputy Attorney-General in March 2017, and in January 2021 he succeeded Gloria Akuffo as Attorney-General. As deputy he opposed Alfred Woyome's attempt to halt the recovery of his judgment debt, and as Attorney-General he nominated Kissi Agyebeng as Special Prosecutor. He left office with the change of government in January 2025. He is married to Dr Joycelyn Assimeng Dame, a paediatric infectious disease specialist, and they have two children. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party.
