About Joe Reindorf
Joe Reindorf was a lawyer and historian who served as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice in the Limann government of the Third Republic. He was born in 1924 and died in 1996 at the age of 72.
He was at Achimota School with K. B. Asante, Victor Owusu and R. R. Amponsah. He went to Cambridge in 1951 as a research student in history and was called to the English bar in 1954, completing a law degree alongside his research. He returned to the Gold Coast in 1956 and entered private practice.
From 1962 to 1966 he was a research fellow in history at the University of Ghana, before going back to the bar. He was president of the Ghana Bar Association from 1970 to 1971. President Hilla Limann appointed him Attorney-General in 1979, and he resigned when a 1981 reshuffle moved him to the Ministry of Local Government. His deputy, Archibald Lartey Djabatey, succeeded him.
