Julius Sarkodee-Adoo

Julius Sarkodee-Adoo was Chief Justice of Ghana from 1964 to 1966, the second Ghanaian to hold the post. He was born on 8 September 1908 and died at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in January 1972.

He studied law at King's College London, entered the Inner Temple in 1928 and was called to the bar in 1932.

Kwame Nkrumah appointed him to succeed Sir Arku Korsah, whom he had dismissed after the court acquitted three of the accused in the Kulungugu treason trial. Sarkodee-Adoo led the judiciary in the last years of the one-party First Republic, and the National Liberation Council removed him after the coup of 24 February 1966.
