Kwasi Anokye Gyimah

Kwasi Anokye Gyimah is a Justice of the Court of Appeal of Ghana, appointed in October 2025, and a former High Court judge best known for his 2023 ruling in the trial of former COCOBOD chief executive Stephen Opuni.

He took his law degree at the University of Ghana in 2000, qualified at the Ghana School of Law in 2002 and took an LLM at Legon in 2003, followed by an LLM in international criminal justice and armed conflict at the University of Nottingham in 2005. He practised as an associate at Sam Okudzeto and Associates in civil litigation, property, family and commercial law before joining the bench.

As a High Court judge he sat for years at the Land Court in Accra. In 2023 he took over the Opuni case, which had run since 2018 over the purchase of Lithovit fertiliser, after Justice Clemence Honyenuga retired, and ruled in April that the trial should start afresh. The Attorney-General appealed, and the Court of Appeal reversed him and ordered that the evidence already taken be adopted. He was later transferred to Kumasi.
