Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo

Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo is a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana, appointed in 2025, who practised law in Canada before joining the Ghanaian bench. He was born in Accra and comes from Insu-Siding in the Western Region.

He went to Winneba Secondary School and Sekondi College, took his law degree at the University of Ghana from 1991 to 1994 and was called to the bar in 1996. He co-founded Kendicks Law Firm, then took an LLM at the University of Helsinki and moved to Canada, where he was called to the bar and worked in Toronto in criminal, family and immigration law, including on the Jane Creba murder trial.

He returned to Ghana as a High Court judge in April 2015. His judgments there included holding the 37 Military Hospital liable for the death of a 27-year-old PhD student. He joined the Court of Appeal in December 2022 and sat on the Ato Forson and Jakpa case. A petition accusing him of bias delayed his Supreme Court vetting in June 2025 until the Speaker dismissed it. He has taught legal ethics at the Ghana School of Law since 2021 and argues that judgments should be short and readable.
