Nene Amegatcher

Nene Abayateye Ofoe Amegatcher is a lawyer and former Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana, where he sat from October 2018 to July 2023, and a former president of the Ghana Bar Association. He was born in Suhum on 3 February 1953.

He went to Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School and Apam Secondary School, studied law and political science at the University of Ghana and was called to the bar in 1980. He later took an LLM in advanced litigation at Nottingham Trent University. He taught at Accra Polytechnic, lectured on advocacy and ethics at the Ghana School of Law from 1994, and was managing partner of Sam Okudzeto and Associates from 2005 to 2018.

He was president of the Ghana Bar Association from 2012 to 2015 and has led the Commonwealth Lawyers Association and the International Bar Association in Africa. President Akufo-Addo appointed him to the Supreme Court in 2018, directly from the bar, and he sat on the panel that heard the 2020 election petition.
