Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor

Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor is a Ghanaian lawyer, activist and academic who is best known as the lead convenor of the #FixTheCountry movement, a civic campaign demanding government accountability and systemic reform. Born in Akuse, he has become one of the most prominent voices of a younger generation of Ghanaian activists challenging the country's political and economic status quo.

Barker-Vormawor is highly educated, with degrees earned across several countries. He studied at Universite Mohammed V in Rabat and Universite Hassan II in Casablanca in Morocco, at the University of Ghana, and at Harvard Law School in the United States, and he pursued doctoral research in law at the University of Cambridge. This international academic background has informed his approach to constitutional questions, governance and human rights in his activism at home.

He rose to national prominence as a co-founder and leading figure of #FixTheCountry, which describes itself as a non-partisan and non-political civic movement. The campaign channelled widespread frustration over the cost of living, unemployment and governance failures into public protest and online mobilisation, and Barker-Vormawor became its most recognisable spokesperson.
