Nana Oye Bampoe Addo

Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, formerly Nana Oye Lithur, is a human rights lawyer who was Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection from 2013 to 2017 and is now Deputy Chief of Staff for administration in President Mahama's second government.

She went to Ridge Church School and Wesley Girls' High School, studied law at the University of Ghana and took a master's in human rights and democratisation in Africa at the University of Pretoria. She was executive director of the Human Rights Advocacy Centre and Africa coordinator for the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, and campaigned for the Maputo Protocol on women's rights.

As gender minister she chaired the ECOWAS conference of gender ministers. Out of office she headed the Atta Mills Memorial Heritage and was secretary to the NDC's manifesto committees for the 2020 and 2024 elections. In 2022 the World Bank appointed her to an advisory council on economic inclusion. She has four children.
