Gloria Akuffo

Gloria Akuffo is a lawyer who served as Ghana's Attorney-General and Minister for Justice from 2017 to 2021, and earlier became the country's first female Deputy Attorney-General. She was born in Accra on 31 December 1954 and has roots in Akropong-Akuapem and Shai Osudoku.

She graduated in law and political science from the University of Ghana in 1979 and was called to the bar in 1982, later co-founding the firm Owusu-Yeboa, Akuffo and Associates. Under President Kufuor she was Deputy Attorney-General from 2001 to 2005, Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister, and Ghana's first Minister of Aviation from 2006 to 2008, before becoming ambassador to Ireland. She was part of the NPP's legal team in the 2013 election petition.

As President Akufo-Addo's first Attorney-General she led Ghana's side, with her predecessor Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, in the maritime boundary dispute with Cote d'Ivoire, which the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea decided in Ghana's favour in September 2017, protecting the country's offshore oil fields. She received a national honour for that work in 2023. Her deputy, Godfred Dame, succeeded her in 2021.
