Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu

Henrietta Joy Abena Nyarko Mensa-Bonsu is a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana and a law professor. She was born in Kumasi on 29 October 1957.

She went to Wesley Girls' High School, studied law at the University of Ghana and was called to the bar in 1982, then took an LLM at Yale in 1985. She joined the University of Ghana law faculty that year and became a full professor in 2002, later directing the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy and acting as dean of law. She was elected a fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2003 and its president in 2019.

She served on the UN Independent Panel on Peace Operations and on the commission of inquiry into the violence at the 2019 Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election. President Akufo-Addo nominated her to the Supreme Court in 2020, making her the fifth woman to sit on it. She has three daughters.
