Frank Annoh-Dompreh

Frank Annoh-Dompreh is a Ghanaian lawyer, consultant and politician born on 25 October 1977 in Nsawam-Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region, who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency. A member of the New Patriotic Party who has represented the constituency since 2013, he is one of the longest-serving NPP MPs in the Eastern Region and served as the Majority Chief Whip during the Eighth Parliament, a parliamentary leadership role that gave him a central place in the management of NPP's legislative agenda from 2021 to 2025.

Education

Annoh-Dompreh holds an unusually broad academic portfolio. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Cape Coast, then pursued legal education at Mountcrest University where he obtained both an LLB and an LLM, qualifying as a lawyer. He further extended his graduate studies to environmental and climate policy, obtaining a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the Institute of Local Government Studies and a Master of Science in Climate Change from the University of Ghana. His combination of agricultural science, law and environmental specialisations gives him expertise that spans land management, legal advocacy and climate resilience, all directly relevant to the Eastern Region constituency he represents.

Parliamentary career

He first won the Nsawam-Adoagyiri seat in the 2012 general election and was re-elected in 2016, 2020 and 2024, making him a four-term MP by the time the Ninth Parliament convened. During the Eighth Parliament, he served as Majority Chief Whip, the senior party discipline and floor management officer responsible for ensuring attendance, coordinating voting and managing the NPP caucus's legislative participation. In the December 2024 general election, he retained his seat in a deeply contested result: following disruption at the collation centre, a High Court-ordered re-collation on 20 December 2024 confirmed his victory with 29,640 votes against the NDC's Philibert Fummey who received 29,433 votes, a margin of just 207. He now sits on the Minority bench in the Ninth Parliament and chairs the Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, while serving as Minority Chief Whip.

Political Legacy

Frank Annoh-Dompreh's multi-disciplinary academic formation, four consecutive electoral victories in a competitive constituency, and his service as Majority Chief Whip during the NPP's last majority parliament give him one of the more substantive political and legislative careers among current Eastern Region MPs.
