Joseph Azumah

Joseph Azumah is a Ghanaian management professional and politician born on 15 April 1988 in Zebilla in the Upper East Region, who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Akrofuom constituency in the Ashanti Region. A member of the National Democratic Congress who won the Akrofuom seat in December 2024, he assumed office on 7 January 2025 as a first-term parliamentarian representing a constituency in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, a notable geographic shift from his Upper East Region origins to a seat in the country's most politically competitive regional landscape.

Education

Azumah pursued his tertiary education in management at the University of Cape Coast, one of Ghana's leading public universities. He earned a Diploma in Management Studies from the University of Cape Coast in 2016, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Studies from the same institution in 2018. His management studies background gives him a grounding in organisational administration, business strategy and public management that underpins his professional and political career.

Parliamentary career

He contested the Akrofuom constituency in December 2024 and won the seat for the NDC, assuming office in January 2025. Akrofuom is a constituency in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, an area whose communities are deeply embedded in Ghana's small-scale gold mining economy.
