Joseph Kwaku Nayan is a teacher who represented Nkwanta North, in today's Oti Region, for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for two terms, from 2005 to 2013. He was born on 22 May 1964 and comes from Damanko.
He studied at the University of Education, Winneba, and was headmaster of Damanko Junior High School. He served as Deputy Volta Regional Minister and later as deputy chief executive in charge of support services at the Minerals Commission. John Oti Bless of the NDC took Nkwanta North in 2012 and holds it today. He is married with six children.
