Joseph Samuel Annan

Joseph Samuel Annan is a dental and maxillofacial surgeon who represented Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem in the Central Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from 2009 to 2013. He was born in Komenda on 18 December 1953.

He went to Ridge Church School in Accra, studied dental surgery at the Royal London Hospital Medical College, qualifying in 1977, and took a master's in health planning and financing at the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He worked as an oral and dental surgeon in Britain and from 1988 to 1992 was a senior government dental officer and maxillofacial surgeon in Zimbabwe. From 1994 to 2002 he ran JSA Consultants in Ghana. He won the seat in 2008 with 48.8 percent of the vote; Stephen Nana Ato Arthur of the NPP took it in 2012. He is a Methodist, married with three children. Samuel Atta Mills of the NDC holds the seat today.
