About Juliana Azumah-Mensah
Juliana Azumah-Mensah is a nurse and midwife who represented the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region for three terms: Ho East from 2005 to 2013 and the new Agotime-Ziope seat from 2013 to 2017. She was Minister for Tourism and then Minister for Women and Children's Affairs under President Mills. She was born in Koforidua on 15 June 1950 and comes from Agotime-Kpetoe.
She attended OLA Girls Senior High School in Ho and trained as a nurse in Ipswich and as a midwife in Surrey, later earning an MSc in health management from the University of Birmingham. She worked in hospitals in Britain and at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Saudi Arabia, then returned to Ghana in 1988 and became director of health services for the Catholic Diocese of Ho. She won Ho East in 2004 and 2008. She was Minister for Tourism in 2009 and Minister for Women and Children's Affairs from January 2010. She is married with two children. Charles Akwasi Agbeve of the NDC holds Agotime-Ziope today.
