About Kennedy Kwasi Kankam
Kennedy Kwasi Kankam is a businessman who represented Nhyiaeso in Kumasi for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2017 to 2021 and later became Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong. He was born on 22 January 1978 and comes from Adiebeba.
Background
Kankam attended Nhyiaeso International School and Prempeh College, studied administration at Christian Service University College and accounting at KNUST. He was deputy administrative manager of Metro Mass Transit and has run Kekka Company Limited since 2005. He is also a former captain of the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.
Parliament and after
He served one term, sitting on the Public Accounts Committee, before losing the June 2020 primary to Stephen Amoah, who holds the seat today. President Akufo-Addo then appointed him MCE for Asokore Mampong. In June 2021 the Auditor-General directed him to recover about GH₵500,000 given out as loans to more than 300 constituents that had not been repaid.
