Kofi Amankwa-Manu beat three-term MP Kojo Appiah-Kubi by 415 votes to 69 in the NPP's 2020 Atwima-Kwanwoma primary, then took the seat with 78,209 votes, nearly 84 per cent.

He was born on 11 April 1969 and comes from Atwima Foase in Ashanti. He passed his O levels in 1989 and A levels in 1991, and later earned a BSc in banking and finance (2012) and an LLB (2015).
Career
During President Akufo-Addo's first term he headed the impact assessment unit at the Office of the President. He has also been a research assistant at the Fonaa Institute and chief executive of Waltons Limited. In Parliament he has served on the Gender and Children and the Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs committees.
