About Richard Winfred Anane
Dr Richard Winfred Anane is a physician who was Minister for Roads and Highways and Minister for Health in President Kufuor's government, and represented Nhyiaeso in Kumasi for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for twenty years, from 1997 to 2017. He was born on 12 March 1954 and comes from Santasi.
Anane attended Asanteman Secondary School and qualified in medicine at KNUST in 1983, then practised at Hebron Clinic in Bantama. He entered Parliament in 1997 and served in Kufuor's cabinet from 2001, first in charge of roads and later of health. His last win, in 2012, came with 76 percent of the vote. He is a Catholic, married with four children. Stephen Amoah holds Nhyiaeso today.
