Robert Wisdom Cudjoe

Robert Wisdom Cudjoe is a Ghanaian human resource professional, educator and politician born on 6 June 1965 in Aboso Nsuaem in the Western Region, who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Prestea-Huni Valley constituency. A member of the National Democratic Congress who first assumed office in January 2021 and was returned again in December 2024 with an overwhelming majority, he brings a decade of local government executive experience and a multi-disciplinary academic background to his parliamentary representation of a Western Region constituency in the heart of Ghana's gold-producing forest belt.

Education

Cudjoe holds a Diploma in Art (Religion) obtained in 1997, a Bachelor of Education in Psychology from the University of Cape Coast earned in 1998, and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration obtained in 2005. His academic pathway from a religious arts diploma through an education psychology bachelor's degree to a human resource management master's covers a wide intellectual range, with the GIMPA postgraduate qualification giving him management tools for the administration of public sector institutions and constituency development frameworks.

Local government and parliamentary career

He served as the District Chief Executive for the Prestea-Huni Valley area from 2008 to 2016 under the NDC government of President John Atta Mills and later President John Mahama, an eight-year executive tenure that gave him comprehensive knowledge of the constituency's developmental challenges, mining community governance and the local administration of an area where AngloGold Ashanti and other mining operations shape the economic and environmental character of daily life. He was first elected Member of Parliament in December 2020 and assumed office on 7 January 2021. He was retained by popular acclamation at the NDC primaries before the 2024 election, and won the general election with 46,792 votes, one of the larger individual totals from a Western Region constituency in that cycle.

Political Legacy

Robert Wisdom Cudjoe's eight years as DCE followed by multi-term parliamentary service in Prestea-Huni Valley, underpinned by psychology and human resource management qualifications, gives him one of the most sustained individual records of service to a single constituency among Western Region NDC politicians.
