About Nana Ato Arthur
Dr Nana Ato Arthur is an engineer and development planner who was Central Regional Minister under President Kufuor and represented Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2013 to 2017. He was born at Abrem Berase on 24 December 1961.
Arthur trained as an engineer at South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou, took a master's in development planning at KNUST, a postgraduate diploma in regional planning at the University of Dortmund and a PhD in development studies at the University of Bonn in 2012. He worked as an engineer at the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority and as a management consultant at the State Enterprises Commission. Under Kufuor he was District Chief Executive for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem from 2001, Deputy Central Regional Minister from 2005 and Regional Minister from 2006 to 2009. He has been vice-president of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management. Samuel Atta Mills of the NDC holds the seat today.
