About Nii Armah Ashitey
Nii Armah Ashitey is a lawyer who was Greater Accra Regional Minister and then Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, and represented Korle Klottey in Accra for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) until 2017.
Ashitey studied social sciences at KNUST, graduating in 1975, and qualified as a barrister in 1986. He ran Ocerec Company in Accra. From 1993 to 2001 he was chief executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly. He lost Korle Klottey narrowly in 2004 to the NPP's Nii Adu Daku Mante and won it in 2008. President Mills made him Greater Accra Regional Minister in 2009, and after the 2012 election President Mahama appointed him Minister for Employment and Labour Relations. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings of the NDC holds Korle Klottey today.
