Naser Toure Mahama

Naser Toure Mahama (17 March 1965 – 4 January 2026) was a businessman from Nima who represented Ayawaso East in Accra for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for four terms, the last cut short by his death a year after it began.

Oil and forex

Mahama attended West Africa Secondary School and studied marketing at Central University. He later added a governance diploma from GIMPA and an MBA from Doshisha University in Japan. For almost two decades, from 1993 to 2011, he ran Aminasei Oil Company in Accra, and he also operated OTA Forex Bureau.

Nima's representative

Ayawaso East covers Nima, Kanda and neighbouring communities, among the most densely populated parts of Accra. Mahama first won the seat in 2012 and was re-elected in 2016 and 2020. In December 2024 he won a fourth term with about 71 percent of the vote.

Death

He died in Accra on 4 January 2026, aged 60. He was married to Hajia Amina Adam and had two children. In the by-election on 3 March 2026, the NDC's Baba Jamal, a former High Commissioner to Nigeria, won the seat.
