About Joseph Boahen Aidoo
Joseph Boahen Aidoo is a land and agricultural researcher who represented Amenfi East in the Western Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2001 to 2013, and was Western Regional Minister and later chief executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board. He comes from Wassa Afransie.
He studied geography at the University of Ghana, including an MPhil, and lectured at KNUST. As a researcher with the Institute of Land Management and Development he worked for the FAO and the International Food Policy Research Institute and published on customary land tenure, cocoa and women's land rights in Ghana. He won Amenfi East in 2000 and held it until 2012. President Kufuor made him Western Regional Minister from 2001 to 2006. Under President Akufo-Addo he became chief executive of COCOBOD. Nicholas Amankwah of the NDC holds Amenfi East today.
