Keli Gadzekpo

Keli Gadzekpo is a Ghanaian investment banker who co-founded Databank, one of the firms that built Ghana's modern stock market, and who has chaired Enterprise Group PLC, the insurance and financial services group, since 2023. He was Enterprise Group's chief executive from 2014 until he moved to the board chair.

Education and early career

Gadzekpo attended Achimota School and studied accounting at Brigham Young University in the United States. He qualified as a Certified Public Accountant and worked in the Washington, DC office of KPMG Peat Marwick, then held several roles at Steuart Petroleum. He later attended the Harvard Kennedy School as a Mason Fellow and earned a Master of Public Administration.

Databank

In 1990 he co-founded Databank Brokerage Limited with Ken Ofori-Atta, who later became Finance Minister, and served as its chief executive until 2014. Databank was among the early brokerages on the Ghana Stock Exchange, which had opened that year. Its mutual funds, including the Epack Investment Fund, brought many ordinary savers into the market for the first time. Gadzekpo remains a director of the Epack fund and chairs the Databank Foundation.

Enterprise Group

Gadzekpo took over as chief executive of Enterprise Group in 2014. Its businesses include Enterprise Insurance, Enterprise Life, Enterprise Trustees, Enterprise Properties and Enterprise Funeral Services, and the group expanded into Nigeria and into health insurance through Acacia Health. In 2023 he handed over the chief executive role and became board chairman. He also chairs Enterprise Life Assurance Company (Nigeria) and Acacia Health Assurance, and he sits on the boards of the Ghanaian subsidiaries.
