Kwaku DMC

Derrick Okyere Brobbey, better known as Kwaku DMC, approached drill from a different angle, citing Jay-Z, Nas and Kanye West as touchstones before picking up a pen of his own. Born and raised in Kumasi, he began writing lyrics as far back as 2009 but only found his footing after joining Sean Lifer and Rabby Jones at Life Living Records, where he helped shape the Asakaa sound from the inside. His debut mixtape Road to TrApHouse introduced his technical precision to a wider audience, but it was Off-White Flow that broke him internationally: the track caught the ear of Virgil Abloh, the late Louis Vuitton creative director, who featured it on his Televised Radio broadcast.
