Nana Akua Addo

Nana Akua Addo is a Ghanaian model, actress and film producer who became one of West Africa's most talked-about style icons, celebrated for the elaborate, sculptural red-carpet fashion that has made her a fixture of the continent's biggest award nights.

Early life

She was born on 9 March 1984 in Germany, of Ghanaian heritage. She pursued modelling and pageantry early, and later studied acting, including at the New York Film Academy, refining the craft alongside her growing public profile.

Pageantry and acting

She was a runner-up in Miss Malaika Ghana in 2003 and won Miss Ghana-Germany in 2005. She moved into film, starring in productions including Destiny's Child, Speechless and Tears, and produced her own films such as Wannabe and Nukuli, building a career on both sides of the camera.

Red-carpet fame

Since the early 2020s she has become best known for her dramatic, artistic red-carpet appearances, particularly her annual arrivals at the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards, which regularly go viral. By her own account, her fashion presence eventually brought her wider recognition than her acting.
