Adamu Daramani Sakande

Adamu Daramani Sakande was a New Patriotic Party (NPP) politician who won Bawku Central in the Upper East Region in 2008 and sat in the Fifth Parliament. He was born in Bawku on 6 May 1962 and died in London on 22 September 2020.

Before politics he lived and worked in Britain, with the NHS Primary Care Trust in London, and trained in counter-fraud and security management. He took Bawku Central in 2008 with 53.4 percent of the vote, but his term ended in the courts: he was convicted of perjury and forgery over false statements made when he registered as a voter before the election, and was jailed for two years. His parliamentary career lasted one term. Mahama Ayariga of the NDC has held Bawku Central since 2013.
