Adjetey Anang

For many Ghanaians Adjetey Anang will always be Pusher, the character he played in Things We Do for Love from 2000. Two decades later he was still a lead actor, and in July 2023 he marked his 50th birthday by publishing a memoir.

Education

He was born on 8 July 1973 and attended Labone Senior High School. He studied fine arts at the University of Ghana and later took a master's in dramatic arts at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

Film and television

After Broken Heart (1999) and Things We Do for Love, he appeared in The Perfect Picture (2009), A Sting in a Tale (2009), the Adams Apples series (2011-12), Potomanto (2013), Keteke (2017), Potato Potahto (2017), Sidechic Gang (2018), Sugar (2019), Gold Coast Lounge (2019) and Aloe Vera (2020), as well as the youth series YOLO and the Dutch film Slavery. Gold Coast Lounge earned him a best supporting actor nomination at the 2021 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards, and he was Actor of the Year at the 2022 Exclusive Men of the Year Africa Awards. He has also won the ACRAG Talent Award and best actor from the Ghana Union of Theatre Societies.

Memoir and family

The memoir, subtitled A Story of Faith, Imperfection, and Resilience, looks back on his childhood, his years in film and his private life. He is married to Elom, and they have a son.
