Adjoa Andoh is a British-Ghanaian actress whose career across stage, screen and radio has made her one of the most respected performers of her generation in British entertainment. She came to the attention of a global audience through her role as Lady Agatha Danbury in the Netflix period drama Bridgerton, a performance so commanding that it became the defining image of a show that broke streaming records on its release in 2020 and across subsequent series.

Born on 14 July 1963 in Bristol to a Ghanaian father and an English mother, she grew up in a household shaped by the values and cultural inheritance of both traditions. She initially trained as a solicitor, qualifying in law before deciding that the stage was where her real commitment lay.
