Becca

Becca's first album, Sugar, won Record of the Year at the 2008 Ghana Music Awards, and two years later the Kora Awards named her Africa's best prospect. She had come to attention on TV3's talent show Mentor before Kiki Banson signed her to EKB Records.

Early life and education

She was born Rebecca Akosua Acheampomaa Acheampong on 15 August 1984 in Kumasi, the fifth of nine children and the first girl. She attended Morning Star School and Wesley Girls' High School, studied childcare and education at Croydon College in England and later took a master's in brands and communication management at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, where she graduated as valedictorian in 2022.

Music

Sugar was launched on 13 November 2007 and included "You Lied to Me" with Kwabena Kwabena. At the 2010 Ghana Music Awards she won Record of the Year again, along with Best Female Vocal Performance, and "Daa Ke Daa" followed that year. She worked with Nigerian stars 2face on "Bad Man Bad Girl" and M.I on "No Away" (2012), whose video won Best Female Video at the 4Syte Awards. Her later albums, Time 4 Me (2013) and Unveiling (2017), came out on Zylofon.

She has been a Glo brand ambassador, a UNAIDS goodwill ambassador (2014) and an ambassador for Ghana's 2014 World Cup campaign. In September 2013 she complained publicly after being stopped from singing the national anthem before Ghana's World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Kumasi.

Family

She married the Nigerian entrepreneur and artist manager Oluwatobi Sanni Daniel in Accra on 18 August 2018, and they have a daughter.
