About Dag Heward-Mills
Dag Heward-Mills is one of the most prolific church-builders and Christian authors Africa has produced, a medical doctor turned bishop whose Lighthouse Chapel International grew from a university canteen into a global denomination.
Early life and medicine
He was born on 14 May 1963 in London to a Ghanaian father and a Swiss mother, and moved to Ghana as an infant. He was educated at Achimota School and trained as a doctor at the University of Ghana Medical School, graduating in 1989. It was as a medical student that his ministry began.
Founding Lighthouse Chapel
He started what would become Lighthouse Chapel International in 1987, holding early meetings in a university canteen while still studying medicine. Ordained in 1990 and consecrated a bishop in 1996, he built the church into the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group, with branches across the world.
Ministry and writing
His ministry is known for its scale. He has trained thousands of pastors and lay ministers, sent out hundreds of missionaries and built hundreds of church buildings worldwide, and his Healing Jesus Crusades have travelled across Africa and beyond. He is also one of the most widely published Christian authors in the world, with millions of books in circulation.
