Gifty Ohene-Konadu

Gifty Ohene-Konadu is a sociologist and civil servant who represented Asante-Akim South in the Ashanti Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for two terms, from 2005 to 2013. She was born on 23 November 1957 and comes from Juaso.

She studied sociology and home economics at the University of Ghana, development studies at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague and gender, peace and security at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. She spent eighteen years at the National Council on Women and Development and was a director at the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs and the Office of the Head of Civil Service. In Parliament she was Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry in charge of small and medium enterprises. From 2017 to 2020 she coordinated the One District One Factory programme, and in 2020 she became National Coordinator of the Monitoring and Evaluation Secretariat at the Presidency. She is a Seventh-day Adventist, married with three children. Kwaku Asante-Boateng of the NPP holds the seat today.
