About Godfrey Tangu Bayon
Godfrey Tangu Bayon is a veteran teacher who represented Wa East in the Upper West Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) across three parliaments and served as a minister of state for roads under President Kufuor. He was born on 3 March 1956 and comes from Ducie.
Bayon trained at Gbewaa Training College and taught in the Ghana Education Service from 1977 to 2000, including as headmaster of Ducie Primary School. He was District Chief Executive for Wa from 2001 to 2005, then entered Parliament and served as Minister of State at the Ministry of Roads and Highways in 2007 and 2008. He represented Wa East in the Fourth, Fifth and Seventh Parliaments. He is a Baptist, married with two children. Godfred Seidu Jasaw of the NDC holds the seat today.
