Hamza Adam

Dr Hamza Adam is an agricultural scientist and university lecturer who represents Kumbungu in the Northern Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). First elected in 2020, he won a second term in 2024. He was born on 30 October 1975.

Teacher to PhD

Adam started out as a teacher, earning his Certificate 'A' at Bagabaga College of Education in Tamale. He went on to study agricultural technology, then took an MPhil in agricultural extension and a PhD in rural livelihoods, as well as a certificate from McGill University. He lectured at the University for Development Studies, where he became a head of department.

Parliament

His academic work on farming and rural livelihoods carries into his role in the House. In the Eighth Parliament he was the NDC's ranking member on the Environment, Science and Technology Committee, and he has also served on the Business, Constitutional and Legal, and Chieftaincy, Culture and Religious Affairs committees.
