Moses Amadu Yahaya
Development Worker, Former Member of Parliament
About Moses Amadu Yahaya
Moses Amadu Yahaya is a development worker who represented Kumbungu in the Northern Region for the Convention People's Party (CPP) from 2013 to 2017, the only CPP member of that Parliament.
A building technician by training, he worked from 1996 to 2006 as a development officer with the Danish-backed Ghanaian Danish Community Programme in the Tolon-Kumbungu District, then with the NGO King's Village, which he later led as acting country director. Through his contacts he brought boreholes and piped water to dozens of communities in the area, and he was assemblyman for the Saakuba electoral area. He came a distant fourth in Kumbungu in the 2012 general election, but when Muhammad Mumuni left the seat in 2013 to become Secretary-General of the ACP Group, Yahaya won the by-election of 30 April 2013 with 51.8 percent of the vote, beating the former NDC MP Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu. Since 2017 he has been Eastern Regional Manager of the National Food Buffer Stock Company. Hamza Adam of the NDC holds Kumbungu today.
