Michael Afrane

Michael Afrane is a veteran actor in Ghana's Kumawood film industry whose career spans over sixteen years of consistent screen work. His political engagement began young. By the age of twenty, Michael Afrane was already active in local politics in the Ashanti Region, and his first significant achievement came when he was elected as assembly man for Esreso, a community in the Bosomtwe district. That experience of civic responsibility, of representing residents and navigating institutional processes, gave him a grounded perspective that informed his subsequent career in film.

He later served as a production manager in the film industry before fully transitioning to acting, giving him behind-the-scenes experience that deepened his understanding of how films are made and what makes a scene work. At various points he has expressed ambitions to run for parliament for the Amansie West constituency as an independent candidate, suggesting that his interest in direct political service has never entirely faded.
