Peter Kwasi Nortsu-Kotoe

Peter Kwasi Nortsu-Kotoe is a Ghanaian public administrator, development professional and politician born on 6 May 1956 in Kpeduhoe in the Volta Region, who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Akatsi North constituency. A member of the National Democratic Congress who has represented the constituency since January 2013 and retained the seat in December 2024, he brings an extensive background in local government administration and development management to a multi-term parliamentary career representing a Volta Region constituency along the Ghanaian side of the Akatsi North District.

Education

Nortsu-Kotoe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Ghana, a humanities degree that trained him in language, communication and the analytical skills that underpin the advocacy and legislative work of parliamentary representation. He later pursued postgraduate management education at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, earning a Master of Development Management from GIMPA, a qualification that directly aligned his academic training with the practical demands of local and national government administration in a developing economy context.

Local government and parliamentary career

He served as the District Chief Executive for both the Akatsi District and the Akatsi South District from April 2009, a local government executive appointment that gave him operational responsibility for the administration of the Akatsi area communities before he transitioned to parliamentary representation. He was first elected Member of Parliament for the Akatsi North constituency, created in 2012, in the December 2012 general election, entering Parliament on 7 January 2013. He was re-elected in 2016 and has retained the seat through subsequent election cycles, including December 2024, building one of the NDC's established multi-term mandates in the Volta Region. Akatsi North is a constituency in the Akatsi North District, a Volta Region area north of the Volta River floodplain where subsistence farming, fishing and small commerce define community livelihoods.
