About Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah
Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah is a marine engineer who represented Amenfi Central in the Western Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from 2017 to 2025. He was born on 15 June 1957 and comes from Manso-Amenfi.
At sea
Kwakye-Ackah trained as a marine engineer in the United Kingdom, at South Tyneside College and the South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education in Cardiff, and later took an MBA at the University of Leicester. He worked as chief engineer for Tidewater Marine in the United States and for Ocean Tankers in Singapore.
Politics
He was District Chief Executive from 2012 to 2016 and then won Amenfi Central in 2016 and 2020, serving on the Public Accounts and Education committees. After losing the NDC primary on 13 May 2023 he declared himself an independent candidate, but on 19 November 2024 he withdrew and endorsed the NDC's Joana Gyan Cudjoe, who won the seat.
