Ralph Poku-Adusei

Ralph Poku-Adusei is a Ghanaian lawyer and politician born on 6 April 1982 who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Bekwai constituency in the Ashanti Region. A member of the New Patriotic Party and a barrister qualified in both Ghana and England and Wales, he assumed office on 7 January 2025 as a first-term parliamentarian representing a constituency in the Amansie Central District, succeeding the long-serving Joseph Osei-Owusu who had represented the constituency on an independent ticket.

Education and legal career

Poku-Adusei pursued a legal education across multiple prestigious institutions. He studied at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology for his undergraduate foundation, and then trained as a lawyer through the Ghana School of Law, qualifying as a barrister and solicitor in Ghana. He further pursued legal training in England, completing studies at the University of Law, formerly the College of Law of England and Wales, and at Manchester Metropolitan University. He was admitted to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, one of the four Inns of Court in London, earning him the right to practise as a barrister in England and Wales. He is a member of both the Ghana Bar Association and the Bar of England and Wales. He is the Managing Partner of Trent Legal Amansie Chambers, a law firm based in the Amansie area of the Ashanti Region that serves the legal needs of individuals, businesses and community institutions in the Bekwai constituency's catchment area.

Parliamentary career

He won the NPP's parliamentary primaries for Bekwai and secured the party's nomination for the 2024 general election. He won the December 2024 contest and assumed office on 7 January 2025, taking the Bekwai seat on the NPP's minority bench in the Ninth Parliament. Bekwai is a constituency in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, an area where gold mining, cocoa farming and small business commerce form the economic foundation of communities in the southern Ashanti gold belt.
