About Peter Wiafe Pepera
Peter Wiafe Pepera (9 May 1954 – 21 May 2016) was a businessman who represented Abetifi in the Eastern Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2009 until his death, having earlier served as a Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry under President Rawlings.
Pepera studied systems engineering at the University of Birmingham, earning an MSc in 1980, and was managing director of Paramount Distilleries. He began his political career in the National Democratic Congress and later moved to the NPP, winning Abetifi in 2008 and 2012. He died after a short illness in an Accra hospital on 21 May 2016, aged 62. Bryan Acheampong, who later became a cabinet minister, succeeded him.
