Serious Klein

Serious Klein, born Kelvin Boakye in Hannover on 6 June 1991 to Ghanaian parents, is a rapper who came up through Germany's underground hip hop scene. In November 2024 he signed to Nas's label Mass Appeal Records.

Early life

He was raised by his mother, a kindergarten worker, after his parents separated when he was two. The family moved to Duisburg and later Oer-Erkenschwick. He began writing at 12 and recorded his first song at 14 through a school project.

Career

He first performed as Key Bee, from his initials, and became Serious Klein in 2012. Ross Osei and producer Shove Island brought him onto DSTY Records in 2009, and he later co-founded the collective The Family Tree / 555. His EPs The Serious Outlook (2012), The Introduction (2015) and Summer 03's Problem (2016) led to his debut album You Should've Known on Majestic Casual in 2018.
