Smallgod

Smallgod (born Nana Kwame Appiasei, 12 March 1977) is a Ghanaian music executive and recording artiste known for collaboration albums that pair Ghanaian acts with artists from Nigeria, the UK and the US. Fans call him "Abonten Father".

Background

He grew up between London, Ghana and the Netherlands. In 2003 he opened a nightclub called Basement, which he ran for four years, and through it started managing artists: first the reggae act Black Prophet, then the rapper J-Town, and later the Nigerian singer Wavy The Creator and the UK-Ghanaian artist Eugy. He also runs the label and publishing company Nasecworld, and has made clothing collaborations with streetwear brands such as Daily Paper and Filling Pieces.

Music

His debut album, Building Bridges (2021), featured R2Bees, Tiwa Savage, Kwesi Arthur, 2Baba, Efya, Shatta Wale, King Promise, Headie One and others. Connecting the Dots followed in 2022 with Falling, featuring KiDi and Darkoo. That year he also released Gidi Gidi with Tory Lanez and Black Sherif.

He appears on DJ Breezy's Abonten, which was nominated for Best Hiplife Song and Best Collaboration at the 2023 Ghana Music Awards. Fallen Angel, with Black Sherif, was nominated for Record of the Year, Best Afropop Song and Best Music Video in 2025. His later projects include Bridging The Gap (2024) and Highlife Fusion (2025).
